Society Awards 2012

KUCGS at AppsWorld Europe in London Olympia, Nov 2011

  • 10 KUCGS members joined hundreds of IT and Business professionals at London’s Kensington Olympia Conference & Exhibition Centre, Hammersmith Road.
  • The list of companies waiting to show off their new apps and app services was endless: from advising to gaming there was something there for everyone.
  • We took turns at having a go driving a rally car through its paces, and managed to get a seat at most of the talks throughout the day.
  • We also made it our business to build up our contacts. Check out @Apps_World

KUCGS have BenchTec UK in for crazy overclocking event, Nov 2011

BenchTec UK, the UK’s no.1 computer testers, came to Kingston University to put on a show for KUCGS. From start to finish BenchTehc amazed everyone and made good use of their top of the range kit. The event was a pleasure for the whole society and we all look forward to future plans with the company. Hopefully BenchTec will be back soon to put on a similar but slightly more extreme event and a plan for overclocking workshops is in the works. Overall a very good event! The London Technology Show

KUCGS Geeks Fancy Dress Pub Crawl, Nov 2011

  • Dressed as stereotypical geeks, nerd glasses and all, we started off in Hannafords Bar before heading to The Ram Pub in the town centre. From that point on memories are a little hazy but the night ended at kicking out time in Oceana nightclub! The first of many memorable socials… Check out @kingstonoceana and @KUSUBars on Twitter!

The London Technology Show

KUCGS goes to The London International Technology Show (LITS), Oct 2011

  • KUCGS members went to the London International Technology Show (LITS) in London. It was a full-on day that amazed the whole society with state-of-the art gadgets and gizmos. There were also classics such as the MAC timeline and other golden oldies. We saw wonders such as CPU over-clocking with the use of nitrogen to BIO suits that enabled disabled people the power of walking. The location of the show (London Excel Centre) is a very impressive and beautiful complex, and we’re sure to be back there sometime in the not too distant future.

Fresher's 2011

KUCGS at KUSU Freshers’ Fair, Sept 2011

  • As a new society, Freshers’ Fayre was an exciting time, as probably the best opportunity to get ourselves out there and promote what we do. Regardless of the fact that KUCGS were less than a year old, the show we put on was immense! KUCGS stood out from the rest of the crowd and put on a performance that exceeded all our expectations. We not only put on a two-day live stream of our stall, but did an interactive mobile live stream of the whole Freshers’ Fayre – contributing to the overall promotion of Freshers’ Fayre 2011.

KUCGS meets with MobileNationHQ bigwigs in London

  • KUCGS members met with Tod Pedler (MobileNation CEO), and Ben Davey (Mobile Nation Product Architect). The atmosphere was relaxed and we got on very well with the friendly pair. Ben built and gave a short demonstration of a simple app to display news from a large website. Some of our members use MobileNation HQ as part of their degrees so it was especially good to meet the people behind the website and give them feedback. Check out @tpedler@harrypotter2k5 and

KUCGS goes to Microsoft Tech Day in London, June 2011

KUCGS members were invited to Microsoft’s most recent headlining seminar in central London. It lasted all day and was a great success and the speakers list was impressive, ranging from top Microsoft managers and experienced technologists to guest speakers from Easy Jet demonstrating cloud computing. The society came away from the event fully charged with info and hungry for more. Check out @uktechdays on Twitter.
